  1. Hello Andre,

    Nice blog.
    I'd like to ask how your fellow travelers, and the Americans you meet, think about what is happening with education in Newark, New Jersey;
    A whole bunch of super rich Americans are donating a whole lot of money to 'charter schools' there. These are private schools that only get subsidies when pupils make the progress that is in their contract. (The five charter schools in Newark are doing better than public schools, but research done by Stanford University (2009) shows that on the whole, charter school performance is less than that of public schools.)
    Some say the developments in Newark are an important step towards complete privatization of education in the USA.
    What do people in the field expect to happen in the (near) future, both in the US and the rest of the world?
    How does that affect the way we work?

    Good luck, Tony
